My First Post

This website is about Creative writing. My goal is to recognize and discover creative writers at Northwestern State university. I also hope to inform and inspire others in all things create writing. I want to explore the works, processes of writings, and the writers themselves.

Writing is important in all forms, but creative writing is boundless in its benefits. I hope to inspire others to write and explore the world of creative writing. I want others to expand their notions of the different genres in not only writing, but also reading.

A True Journey

Hey y’all,

as some of you know I started this website as an assignment for my video production class. (see My First Post) As the semester has progressed I have become very passionate about everything I’ve learned in class. And I love using the skills I’ve learned to create a space to discuss writing/reading. I’ve learned so many skill that I can carry with me into my future career. From my first ever 5 shot video sequence to my first voiceover, I have learned what it takes to shoot, edit, and perfect the art of video. I’ve been using these skills to produce content that people will enjoy and learn from. I’ve been able to talk about my creative writing class and the writing club I’m a member of; showing how they have helped me grow as a writer. I’ve been able to promote writing and reading as the therapeutic experience that it is. I’ve spread awareness about about the annual AWP Conference so that more people can take advantage of the opportunities it offers. I have had so much fun talking about my love for writing and reading and encouraging others to discover their own love for writing and reading. The content of my site may have changed some due to the outbreak of Covid-19, but I have tried to keep things interesting by doing book reviews. I’ve loved sharing my favorite novels and series with all of my readers. I hope y’all have enjoyed everything I’ve posted thus far and I hope it’s been enlightening. As this semester comes to a close I hope to continue posting. I hope that I can continue to provide great content for my remaining readers and continue to inspire others to read and write. Thank you all for following me on this journey and I really hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.

My Life Since Covid19

Hey y’all! It’s been a while since I’ve posted and it’s because of all this Covid19 stuff. A lot has changed since I last posted. All the schools and universities in Louisiana have closed or switched to online classes, so I’m adjusting! With everything being closed it’s hard to stay entertained! I just wanted to post an update and let y’all know what I’ve been up to. Since I’m home bound the few videos will likely be book reviews. I’ll share some of my favorite books with y’all and we’ll see how it goes.

Here’s a video update on my life since Covid19, hope y’all enjoy!

Creative Writing Class

Hey y’all! Today I wanted to talk about my creative writing class. It’s my favorite class I’ve taken in college so far. In the video below, I interview my Professor, Shea Montgomery. He is one of my absolute favorite professors. His class is always fun and informative.

This class has really helped me grow as a writer. I believe everyone can benefit from taking a creative writing class. Taking a class like this is a good way to improve your writing skills and open yourself up to new styles of writing. If you go to Northwestern State University I definitely recommend taking this course! And if not, you should check out what creative writing classes are offered at your own university!

Check out the video down below and see if this is a class you’d consider taking!
